Enquiring Minds- All About Me
Enquiring Minds- All About Me
In September we kicked off our Enquiring Minds project with a visit to the Horniman Museum. The Museum is a treasure trove of objects from around the world. We became groups of detectives and explored exhibits from around the world. One of the things we love about our school and about London, is the wonderful variety of cultures we can experience and share. At the Museum, TT was able to tell her group about the statues from Burma. SS was excited to see and discuss Sikh traditional dressand JM was intrigued by the exhibits on the theory of evolution. There was something for
everyone.
In the afternoon we took part in a Music workshop, playing on more than 35 different
musical instruments. The pupils were so excited.
AH spontaneously played the most beautiful music on a xylophone and stunned us all.
NN said: ‘Our visit to the Museum was fantastic! My favourite part was the Aquarium where we saw some starfish...they were stuck to the glass!’
AH commented, he enjoyed writing and drawing at the Horniman Museum. He has learnt
how our clothes show who we are.

Year 7/8 having been taking part in in JImba drumming with Pablo as part of their enquiring mind project. They have learnt how to feel music through vibrations. They were also shown how to draw a graph linking with the drumbeat rhythm.
The students created beautiful Identity boxes in response to their cultural research and they set up an exhibition of their work. Parents were invited to a drumming performance and were able to view their wonderful creations.
